Causes of Burns

Burn type wounds are mechanically caused by friction, freezing, contact with burning chemical agents, being exposed to the sun for a long time, radiation, being in contact with fire or other extremely hot agents.

Burns are classified according to their depth. First-degree burns affect the top layer of the skin. There is pain and sensibility in the area the burn is located. Sunburns and spilling of liquids cause superficial burns on the surface of the skin.

Areas of Burns

Wallace’s nine rules are used to determine the expansion of the burn. According to this, 9% head-neck, 9% arms, 9% trunk (front), 9% trunk (back), and 18% legs has been evaluated.

Burn treatment

Generally 20% of adults, 10% of children have big burns and therefore they need to be admitted and treated in the hospital.
